i have chronic bloating and constipation and incomplete evacuation. no pain other than very full feeling. eating makes it worse. it gets worse throughout the day. i was diagnosed by my conventional dr with ibs and slow motlity disorder. i eat well, exercise 5x week and drink 64 oz water daily. i now weigh 105 pounds. used to weigh 115. lost about 10 pounds in a year i am very thin but look pregnant. i burp alot normally but now more so since starting carbo veg. i took arsenicum album for one week. bloating went away as long as i took it 15 min before each meal. when i stopped taking it, bloating came back. was told to stop taking it and that i cannot take it long term. took lyco 30x am and nux vomica 30x pm for one week. bloating went away after 3 days but i continued to take it per advice, bloating returned. i look like i swallowed a basketball. i have a flat midsection but now look enormous and feel very full no matter what or how much i eat.
no illnesses, no surgeries, no hospitalizations. pretty healthy except for chewed up cartilage in right knee due to fall in 1999.

mr murthy, i took a combination remedy wet dose called bowel discomfort made by newton homeopathics with arsenicum album. i believe it's 30x i took it the first time in early june for a week, as per instruction. after about 4 days, my bloating went away. i continued for the whole week, as per instruction. a few days after stopping, the bloating came back. i tried again with the same results. once i stopped taking it, symptoms returned. i was told it was dangerous to take arsenicum album for long term. was recommended lycopodium and nux vomica as per the previous posts.

Are you sure you don't have any other problems what so ever?

Any issue outside your main complaint may give the clue to your remedy.

I am not going to prescribe in a hurry. I want to go to the bottom of it, and make sure that yor next medicine is not a hit and miss afair.

missannie, if you still visit this forum, I experienced almost exactly what you are describing, tried most of the same homeopathic remedies and several prescription drugs. Finally found something that has given very good relief, not 100%, but fairly dramatic improvement over what I'd experienced for several years. I found relief with probiotics. Respond if you'd like more details.

Hi Will,

If I remember correctly I believe I suggested Arnica 30c to help you to quit smoking some years ago on the ABC.

I would like to know how you are faring today, 4 years after the Arnica.

Hello Joe,

Yes, that was me. I've only smoked one cigarette since, and that was one I found under the bed. I've had little or no desire to smoke since and seldom think about it.

I'm not sure I ever mentioned this, but I also had (and still have) left shoulder bursitis. Rather than take cortisone shots, at the time I was getting pretty good relief from Oil of Oregano (mixed in coconut oil). After I started the Arnica 30C in the wet dose, I realized after a time that it was keeping the bursitis under control. Since, Arnica has kept that well under control, but it will come back if I stop taking the Arnica for a few days. I also use Boiron's Arnica Gel which also helps. Arnica is recommended for bursitis caused by some trauma, and I'm sure mine started with some compression and awkward positioning of the left shoulder.

I've tried and found several other homeopathic remedies that work for me for occasional ailments and have a fair number of remedies on hand now.

It was actually December of 2005 when I quit smoking, almost three years. I got away from the other place during all the disagreeableness, but have looked in here occasionally. Then I saw this topic which is very similar to what I experienced. Never found a homeopathic remedy that was effective for that, but probiotics have given significant improvement.

Glad to note that Arnica worked for you and helped you to quit smoking. That's Joepathy for you.

As you no doubt are aware, I have been often subjected to violent criticism on the ABC by the classical and the pseudo classical membership and I discovered that I was spending more time in defending my Joepathy than I was spending on helping patients with their ailments. In your case, I remembered a case that I met every evening on my daily walk in the Cricket ground opposite my residence in Colombo and I noticed the park keeper seemed to have a chronic infection which made him cough uncontrollably almost all the time. I had noticed that he invariably had a cigarette in his hand whenever I passed his office on my rounds and he informed me that he had seen a cardiac specialist for his Angina and he had advised him to quit smoking which he had been doing for as long as he could remember. He had tried various means to do so but with no success.

I gave him Arnica 30c in the pellets as I had not converted at that time to the Wet Dose that I now use and he was able to quit smoking within the week. He also discovered that his Angina did not affect him anymore and he is a good example of how Joepathy works to help anyone in distress with almost immediate effect. I meet him every evening and he is very grateful to me for saving him from a premature demise. He takes Arnica 30c in the Wet dose twice daily and does not experience any cardiac pain anymore. He too has not smoked a cigarette since 2000.

The pain in your left shoulder is most likely Cervical Spondylosis. I have cured some patients with this ailment with Rhus Tox 30c in the Dry Dose 4 pellets taken 3 times daily. Patients have reported that this remedy worked very quickly in about 3 days and I shall be interested to learn if you too will experience this same response. Suggest that you stop the Arnica when you are taking the Rhus Tox.

If you are suffering from Gastric problems you are advised to take Nat Phos 6x immediately after a meal. You can take up to 4 tablets and you should experience relief. However I would prefer you do not mix remedies till your problem shoulder is stabilized.

Dan,

Annie used probiotics to relieve her bloating which makes sense, since bacterial colony that lives on our gut, they fart after digesting their food. Does your body regularly and easily release the excess gas downwards and out?

If it doesn't , it is trapped gases. and either Lycopodium or Kali Sulph would help alongwith probiotics.

So how do you get gout?
Gout is caused by excessive amounts of uric acid in the blood. That is pretty much it. To prevent and treat gout, all you need to do is reduce the amount of uric acid. Doctors do this with medication and steroids that don't treat gout but treat gout pain. It is important that you understand this difference. If you want to actually prevent gout, the option is to do so naturally. The cheaper and better approach is to control gout through proper diet and exercise. In fact, if you do this, you may be giving your doctor his pink slip as he most likely won't see you again as far as gout attacks are concerned.
The answer is in how we break down foods during digestion. Basically our enzymes create by-products by breaking down food. The enzyme in particular that we are interested in is the enzyme that breaks down protein. Whenever we eat protein (and this can include certain vegetables as well as meats and dairy), this enzyme creates a by-product called uric acid.
