I would like to share with members the therapy I used a few days ago to treat a Kidney Stone which can be useful to members who may be diagnosed with one or who may find that a friend suffers from a Kidney Stone. It is interesting to note that modern medicine does not seem to have any treatment for Kidney Stones other than shattering them with a Lithotrypter or by using drugs to dissolve them which usually does not seem to help the patient quickly. This patient had been under treatment by specialists of the General Hospital in Colombo for some months but with no amelioration of his condition.

He presented with acute pain in his back which had been diagnosed by specialists as Kidney Stones. An Xray did not show any shadows but his Urine report showed that he had Calcium Oxalate Crystals ++.

I gave the patient Berberis Vulgaris 6c in the Wet Dose but this did not help him for a week as this remedy works slowly to dissolve the stones. On the 8th day he reported acute pain radiating down from his right kidney and was unable to stand erect. I diagnosed that a stone had been discharged from his right kidney and that it was blocking his right Ureter. I gave him 6 pellets Colocynthis 200 in the DRY Dose which he took sublingually at around 7.00PM. He reported on the morning after that he had woken up around 2.00AM with excrutiating pain, the likes of which which he had never suffered before in his life. The pain radiated from his back down through his abdomen on the right side and down to the bladder. His urine was bloody shortly after.

He had passed the stone with just one dose of Colocynthis 200 and he is now completely free of all pain and discomfort. A urine test does not show any signs of Calcium Oxalate Crystals.

I am recording this incident in the hope that members will remember that Colocynthis 200 in the DRY dose has an almost miraculous effect in dislodging Kidney Stones. Berberis Vulgaris 6c in the Wet Dose will slowly dissolve the Calculi and it helped this patient to dislodge the stone that was in his right kidney and its passage through the Ureter caused him this unbearable pain which was so bad that he had passed out for a short while.

I have advised him to take a teaspoonful of Berberis V 6c in the Wet Dose daily to ensure that his urine does not cause another Kidney Stone to form and to also drink at least 3 liters of liquids daily.

Thanks Joe, a new insight about colosynthis. It grows all over in my place where desert begins. In local language it is called Kod-tumba.

It is bitter and like all bitter things it is considered that it relieves diabeties (I doubt it).

I used it as pain medicine especially for stomach pains, in raw forum as well as homeopathic forms.

Colocynthis grows in the Dry Zone in Sri Lanka and has been used in the Ayurvedha for centuries. It is known here as "Thiththa Labu" or Bitter Cucumber. I was informed that farmers in the agricultural areas use the seeds even today after grinding to make a decoction to help with Kidney problems.

You stated that " It grows all over in my place where desert begins. In local language it is called Kod-tumba." I presume that you meant that it grows in India as I would doubt that it can grow in New Jersey.

I must admit that I was very surprised by the effect of just one dose of Colocynthis 200 to dislodge the stone and would like to know how this occurs in the Ureter. Is it by an increase of Peristalsis or by relaxation of the Uriter tube ? This is the second case I treated of a similar nature and the first patient passed the stone in about 3 hours.

It would be of interest to learn how other homeopaths treat cases of Kidney Stones and what remedies they use as this information would be of interest to those who are dedicated to Homeopathy.

Joe, thanks for the remedy. I'll put it in my repertoire for my next attack.

You do not have to anticipate your next attack as the chances are that you should be able to slowly dissolve the Calculi if you use the Berberis Vulgaris 6c in the Wet Dose taken twice daily for a month and once daily thereafter.

If you experience acute pain this will indicate that a Calculus (stone) has been discharged from your Kidney into your Ureter. You can take just one dose of 6 pellets Colocynthis 200c in the Dry Dose ASAP. If all goes well your Stone should descend into your bladder, but this process may cause you some acute pain and some blood may also be noticed in your urine.

You are advised to drink at least 3 liters of liquids daily to help dissolve the stone. The Berberis V will dissolve the stone and you may not be aware when the stone slips into the Ureter from the Kidney and is passed out in the urine.

My last stone lodged in the ureter, casing a backup and a ruptured kidney. Talk about acute pain. Morphine did not work. They had to knock me out. Anyhow, I'll try the wet dose of Berberis and I urinate two litters every day per doctors orders. That keeps me busy.

Dear Joe my elder sister has kidney stone in right kidney she had done laser therapy and then kidney operation to remove that stone and that stone was made of calcium oxalate. But after some months she again now have kidney stone on same kidney same spot and size is also huge.

I have used the therapy that I have recorded on a few patients and they have all responded in the manner that I have described above.

Follow the instructions with Berberis which should hopefully dissolve your sister's stone but it may take some time before it is ready for expulsion down the Ureter. She can use the Colocynthis in about a month to see if it will help to expel the stone, which you state is huge.

Instruct her to drink at least 3 liters of liquids daily as this is essential to prevent the formation of Calculi.

Also all acidic food like tomatoes, and red meat must be avoided and I presume that she does not use alcohol which is also contraindicated.

Only in case of failure of above the following can be tried;
Natrum Phos.
In acidity, when calcium oxalate is present in urine, its 1x potency not only cures acidity but also eliminates calcium oxalate and stops formation of kidney stone.
sajjad.

Dear Doctors
Please suggest a remedy for my husband
He is diabetic and since last November have had 5 kidney stone lithroscopic
surgeries + 1 surgery wherein they went thru the private area. Also, had another surgery kidney stone operation in 1975.
Also due for another lithro in about 3 weeks.
Used to get heart burn often for many years and took tums which contain a lot of calcium. Also, did not drink much water. The stones are calcium oxilate. Now do not have any pain but after the last lithro in May 2009 the Dr. says that the stone has not been crushed fully so have to go in for another lithro in 3 weeks.
Also under left feet it is very painful, job entails standing for 6 hours. Not sure if it is related to the kidney stone.
Also took hydrangea stone crusher but still had to undergo the above.
kind regards

Please follow the therapy I have detailed in my first post on this thread and the chances are that your husband may be able to avoid the surgery scheduled in 3 weeks.

He can also take Nat Phos 6x dose 2 tablets immediately after a meal to help the heart burn. Tums are made of Aluminium Hydroxide and it is possible that his stones owe their origin to Tums.

Importance of Oxygen Monitoring
Every person is required to breathe in order to live. It may be assumed that all people have the exactly the same level of oxygen in the body. However, oxygen levels of each person are different from each other.
For majority of people, level of 95-100 percent is considered normal. Within this acceptable range, the cells of the body have adequate amount of oxygen to carry out body functions. A level outside the range may be a reason for a concern and warrants monitoring and testing by the doctor.
Measure Your Oxygen Saturation
Pulse oximeter is a device that is commonly utilized to determine the saturation. It is a small device that is usually clips in the patient's ear lobe or finger tips and shines one red light and one infrared. These light beams will allow the pulse oximeter to read changes in the patient's blood.
An arterial blood gas or ABG test may also be administered to provide more precise reading. This test involves blood extraction from the radial artery in the wrist. This test is known to be more painful than other kind of blood test in which blood extraction is usually done in the vein. Luckily, arterial blood gas is done quickly and can be well tolerated with small risk to the patients. The ABG results are available in a few minutes.
If you have too low saturation, treatment may be prescribed by your doctor. One of the treatments that are commonly used for low oxygen saturation is the oxygen therapy. Oxygen can be given in nasal or mask forms. The amount of oxygen that is usually given is based on the level of oxygen saturation is in the blood.
Pulse Oximeters - You Can Measure Your Oxygen Blood Saturation
Pulse oximeters cannot provide a full picture for the patient (for example levels of carbon dioxide), but they do provide an immediate warning if oxygen levels are reduced.
Over the last few years their use has increased dramatically making them a common, hand held device for people on supplemental oxygen.

hello Joe,
I was diagnosed with one right renal calculi of 4.7mm some 20 days back, since then I am drinking a minimum of 4 liters of fluid per day, avoiding calcium rich food and taking two doses of Berbaris RO since the last two weeks (10 drops per dose for the first week and 20 drops then after). My recent USG followup shows two calculi in the same kidney(one 2.5mm and another 4.0mm). Is this an improvement or something's wrong somewhere? Any suggestion on what to do next please?
